Book Condition: Near-Fine, original blue cloth, gilt lettered spine and only the slightest crease below the title on spine, that prevents this from being a Fine Copy. Rear cover has the Heinemann imprint logo, which signifies a First Edition, First Printing. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine in a bright white unclipped 16s net wrapper. Slight wearing at top and bottom of spine, else fine. No tears or scratches in this notoriously susceptible to damage dust jacket.
Salinger's short story "Franny" (1955), and his novella "Zooey"(1957), were originally published separately in The New Yorker Magazine. The title characters Franny and Zooey, the youngest members of the Glass family, were a frequent focus of Salinger's writings.
The book spent 25 weeks at the top of The New York Times Best Sellers list in 1961 and 1962, and was positively reviewed by John Updike.
