Stephen King’s letter introducing Rick Hautala

I am not sure if many Rick Hautala fans knew it, but the original title for Rick's 1980 debut novel "Moondeath" was called "The Dark Brother".

In May 1978, shortly before "Night Shift" was published, his friend Steve King sent a nice letter to Coward, McCann, and Geoghan Publishers of NYC to look at the partial manuscript. Steve liked the story very much, and was eventually asked to write the cover tagline "One of the best horror novels I've read in the last two years!" - Stephen King

Ultimately, CM&G passed, and Zebra Books (later Kensington) published the novel in 1980, but Steve and Rick remained friends until Rick's passing in 2013.
